Crypto recovery in the UK: no win, no fee, and no false promises
Once bitten, twice shy. The old saying survives because it is accurate: the person most likely to be targeted by a recovery scam is the person who has just been scammed. If that is you, a measure of suspicion now is not paranoia. It is method.
RVK Recovery is a cryptocurrency recovery practice serving clients across the United Kingdom. It reviews fraud and theft, lost wallet access, exchange lockouts, and estates that include digital assets, and everything material is in writing, so there is a record.
Three fixed points:
- The practice never asks for seed phrases, private keys, or remote access to your computer.
- The fee is 12.5%, payable only after recovered funds reach your own bank account.
- The initial review is confidential and without obligation.

First steps after a crypto loss in the UK
Do not send more money, and do not argue with the platform. Preserve the evidence instead: emails, chat logs, transaction identifiers, wallet addresses, and the site's URLs. Tell your bank at once.
Report the fraud to Report Fraud, the national service that replaced Action Fraud in December 2025, online or on 0300 123 2040. In Scotland, report to Police Scotland on 101; Scotland has its own legal system and its own reporting route.
Check the firm against the FCA Warning List and the Financial Services Register. Most crypto activity is not regulated in the UK, so the ombudsman and the compensation scheme usually do not apply; that is why the records you keep now matter.
Then expect the follow-up. Victims are routinely contacted again within days by "recovery agents" demanding an upfront fee, a seed phrase for verification, or remote access: each the signature of a second scam.
What the practice reviews for UK clients
Investment fraud is the largest category: fabricated trading platforms, clone firms that copy a genuine company's name, and celebrity deepfake adverts; the Financial Conduct Authority issued more than 1,500 alerts about unauthorised crypto entities in 2025 alone. The practice also reviews romance fraud and pig butchering, phishing, SIM swap, ransomware, and fake recovery services. Several brands can trace back to one organiser already before a court; a check whether an open case already exists is free and needs no wallet credentials.
Beyond fraud, the practice reviews lost access to wallets and exchange accounts, lockouts at genuine custodians handled as documented disputes, and estates where the paperwork is incomplete.
The picture across the UK
London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, and Glasgow produce the most reports, but the pattern is national. City of London Police recorded £649 million lost to investment fraud in 2024, with cryptocurrency mentioned in two thirds of those reports.
A note for Scottish readers: Scotland has its own legal system and its own reporting route through Police Scotland; UK-wide bodies such as the FCA still apply, but a Scottish file is assessed under Scots law.
Fees, security, and who the practice can act for
The fee is no win, no fee: 12.5%, and only after recovered funds are deposited into your own bank account. No retainer, no hourly rate, no cryptocurrency payment to open a file, no charge for the review. If there is no recovery through the practice's efforts, nothing is owed.
The practice never asks for seed phrases, private keys, wallet passwords, two-factor codes, or remote desktop access of any kind, and never asks you to move remaining coins as a verification step. Anyone who asks in the practice's name is an impersonator. Open rvkrecovery.com yourself; do not follow links in unexpected email.
Clients who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States, Germany, Italy, or France cannot be accepted; every other country can be considered. Each file is judged on the applicable law, the counterparty's location, the evidence, any existing court action, and whether enforcement is practical. Recovery is not guaranteed; where there is no practical path, the practice says so in writing.
FAQ
How do I report crypto fraud in the UK?
Through Report Fraud, online or on 0300 123 2040. In Scotland, call Police Scotland on 101. Tell your bank, and keep the reference numbers.
Is Action Fraud still running?
No. Report Fraud replaced it on 4 December 2025; the phone number stayed the same, and old links redirect. Scotland was never covered; there you report to Police Scotland.
What is the FCA Warning List?
A public list of firms the Financial Conduct Authority believes are operating without permission. It is information, not a guarantee: a firm absent from the list may still be unauthorised, because clones change names quickly.
Can I get my money back from a crypto scam?
Sometimes, where the funds can be traced to an identifiable endpoint and a court can act. Often not. The practice reviews the evidence and tells you plainly, in writing, before any fee could arise.
How much does crypto recovery cost?
12.5% of recovered funds, due only after the money is in your bank account. Nothing before: no retainer, no hourly rate, no crypto payment to open a file.
Someone offered to recover my funds for an upfront fee. Is that legitimate?
Upfront fees, seed phrases "for verification", guaranteed results, and requests for remote access are the four marks of a recovery scam. Decline, keep the messages, and report the approach.
Ask for a confidential review
A review starts with six answers: full name, email, country and telephone, amount lost in US dollars, type of case, and a short account of what happened, up to 5,000 characters. No identity documents and no wallet credentials are needed. A specialist replies in writing within business days; if the practice cannot help, it will say so plainly, and you will owe nothing.
