Crypto recovery in Portugal after a scam
Portugal has an old saying: nem tudo o que luz é ouro, not everything that shines is gold. The platform that showed your balance growing every week shone too: clean charts, punctual profits, a manager who always answered. Until it did not. If you have lost money to one of these schemes, start with one fact: they are built by professionals. Being deceived by them is not a character flaw.
RVK Recovery is a cryptocurrency recovery practice serving clients across Portugal. It works remotely and in writing: it reviews what happened, checks whether the entity that took your money is already before a court, and tells you plainly whether a practical path exists.
Three fixed rules:
- It never asks for recovery phrases, private keys, or remote access to your computer or phone.
- The fee is 12.5%, due only after recovered funds reach your bank account.
- The first review is confidential, in writing, and free of obligation.

First steps in Portugal
Keep all evidence: emails, messages, screenshots, transfer receipts, transaction identifiers (TXIDs), wallet addresses. Delete nothing.
Send no more money. Not a commission, not a tax, not a "release cost". That request is the second phase of the same scam.
If you paid by transfer or card, tell your bank immediately.
File a criminal complaint, a queixa, with the Polícia Judiciária, in person or through its online portal, or with the PSP, the GNR, or the Ministério Público. You can check the warnings of the Banco de Portugal and the CMVM (investor line 800 205 339). These channels are named as information, not as endorsements.
Distrust anyone who contacts you first offering recovery. The Banco de Portugal has warned about calls offering to "reactivate" an inactive wallet for a payment: that is the second scam, and it arrives within days of the first.
What the practice reviews
- Fake investment platforms, the most reported pattern in Portugal, often built on stolen images of public figures.
- Romance fraud and pig butchering starting on TikTok, WhatsApp, or Telegram.
- Phishing, imitation of genuine exchanges, SIM swap.
- Lost access: forgotten passwords, lost second-factor devices, damaged wallets, incomplete records.
- Lockouts and documented disputes with genuine exchanges.
- Estates that include crypto assets with incomplete paperwork.
The picture in Portugal
The Gabinete Cibercrime of the Procuradoria-Geral da República receives complaints about fake crypto investment platforms every year: 139 in 2024, 135 in 2025. In Caldas da Rainha, two victims lost more than 140,000 euros after adverts that used familiar faces.
In Lisbon, Porto, Braga, Coimbra, Faro, and the Algarve towns where many international residents live, the mechanics repeat: an advert, a supposed account manager, simulated profits, and fresh payment demands when you try to withdraw. RVK Recovery is a remote practice: it publishes no phone number, and the only address it lists is the UK registered office shown in the footer, a statutory address that receives no client visits; everything material is put in writing so there is a record.
Fees, security, jurisdiction
The fee is 12.5% of recovered funds, due only after the money reaches the client's bank account. No retainer, no hourly rate, no cryptocurrency payment to open a file. If there is no recovery through the practice's efforts, nothing is owed.
Security is not negotiable. The practice never asks for recovery phrases, private keys, wallet passwords, two-factor codes, or remote desktop access (AnyDesk, TeamViewer, UltraViewer, Chrome Remote Desktop, screen sharing), and it never asks you to move your remaining coins anywhere as proof. Anyone who asks in the practice's name is an impersonator. Verify by opening rvkrecovery.com yourself, never through a link you were sent.
Recovery is not guaranteed, and the practice publishes no success rates. Some matters have no practical path; if yours is one of them, you will be told so in writing.
Jurisdiction: RVK Recovery does not accept clients who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States, Germany, Italy, or France. Every other country, including Portugal, can be considered. Each file is judged on the applicable law, the counterparty, the evidence, any existing court action, and whether enforcement is practical.
If a file proceeds, anti-money laundering rules require proof that you are the victim of that specific loss. That proof is records, never a transfer of coins.
FAQ
Can crypto lost to a scam be recovered in Portugal?
Sometimes. It depends on whether funds can be traced to an exchange or identifiable entity, the evidence, jurisdiction, and timing. The review guarantees no outcome.
What does the initial review cost?
Nothing. It is free and carries no obligation. The 12.5% fee applies only if recovered funds reach your bank.
Will you ask for my recovery phrase or remote access?
Never. No recovery phrase, no private keys, no passwords, no remote desktop software. Anyone who asks in our name is not RVK Recovery.
Is there a deadline for filing a complaint?
As a rule, six months from learning of the crime, for simple fraud; general information, not advice on your case.
I already paid a recovery company. Is it still worth asking?
Yes. Treat that payment as a further loss and send nothing more. You can describe both episodes on the form.
A confidential review
Six answers are enough: full name, email, country and telephone, the approximate amount lost in US dollars, the type of case, and a short account of what happened (up to 5,000 characters). No identity documents are needed for this first check. A specialist replies in writing within business days.
